Unpacking CityChess

Ted Heisler and Brian Taber sit down to discuss their partnership and CityChess.

our story

Ted Heisler has over a quarter of a century of experience in commercial interior design for a global architectural firm.

“It was a fun and unique challenge to design in small scale for a change. Working with my friend Brian Taber [Owner and Founder of Taber — a millwork, metal, and upholstery manufacturing firm], we refined the set into its present form.”

As Ted imagined a contemporary chess set, he wanted to create a congruent hierarchy, a patterned language that would emerge in an architectural form. After several iterations, form became shape that emulated a building... and together, a city.
